Happy Valentines day everyone!!!
I know many people are loving this valentine day and to be honest in so many years I have not seen people as dedicated to sharing the Love and gifts as much as this year. Even my
mum planned her vals day. lol
Although we are all coupled up in this day and age e.g courtship
the truth is that there is still singleness until married.
Jeremiah 32:39 says that "I will give them singleness of heart and action
so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them (NIV).
I recently attended a conference called Bethel Campus Fellowship and I am so glad I went This is a campus fellowship in which one of the objectives is leading students to christ. The theme was In His steps and wow!. Did God work on my heart or what!
Not only did he work on my heart for forgiveness he also started to show me what my walk should be right now. Hence the title "Singleness of Heart"
At my age there is much
pressure in the Nigerian culture to get married, not saying I don’t want to, but
ones mind becomes so occupied with it. I realized that I
was puting many things before God. Not just thoughts about marriage, but also thoughts about work, and school, and my plans for the future.
At this conference there were 3 Messages preached that me begin to re-evaluate my
thought process. I realized that many times we quote the bible
Mat 6:33 -seek
first the Kingdom of God and all other things will be given to us-.
But do we really seek him?
I saw that although I felt (emotions) like I was putting God first, my heart was not. When I woke up the first thing I
would check is my BBM, Emails and then Facebook and all of a sudden it would be
time for school or work.
God had to change
my way of thinking.
In order to follow in his steps we are to preach the good news heal and do much more than he did.
The goals of singleness is not the same as marriage.
1 Corinthians 7:32-35 Says...
"an unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs- how he can please the Lord... an unmarried woman or virgin is concerned bout the Lords affairs her aim is devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit 34a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world - How she can please her husband. PAUL now lays it out some more!! And states" 35 I am telling you this for your own good, no to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord. (NIV)
If we do not cultivate the habit and lifestyle of putting God
first now, how can we teach our children. And I am not trying to condemn anyone, but I am asking God to convict our hearts to see what is happening, because we are all still living and learning. I have heard this type of message preached time and time again, but now it means
something to me.
Our parents have prayed for us and know God but if we continue in our ways who will teach our generation to come.
Dont get caught up in life and relationships be it courtship. We need to ensure and remember that our focus as of right now is to please God.
I told one
of my friends that there must be a reason for my singleness because I keep
learning new things and ways to become a better wife, sister, daughter, and
mother.
Let God be the first one you are conversant with in the morning.
Here are some steps I am taking.
1.)When I wake up in the morning I pick up my phone and then I drop
it.
I thank him for waking me up this morning because its cause of Him im alive
2.) I read a verse or 2 from the bible (and ask him to speak)
3.) Before getting down to business (doing schoolwork or
House of Dara work I pray and I commit all that I would do into his hands. (I
have realized that just in the past two days more have been
accomplished, my prayers are being answered and I see evidence of it.)
Honestly if you desire it ask him to give you he singleness of
heart and then every
other thing will be given you.
other thing will be given you.
Happy Valentines Day.
