Doing the Gele Thing

 So I decided to do the gele (African Head wrap) thing. For the longest time my mum has been trying to get me to wear hats or african head wraps.
Gele's are traditionally used for many occasions from sunday services to weddings
and they have been part of Nigeria's history for a long time.
They come in various colours as well as texture,
but generally they are hand made from damask, brocade or asoke.
 I decided to give it a go as I observed from one of my aunty's,
 you don't have to wear the whole traditional outfit to wear a gele.

You  can actually wear these colourful materials with your usual english get ups like i did.
This was my first time tying the gele by myself
(many times someone ties the it for you)
I think i did a pretty ok job lol

Its Wedding Season!

This is definitely the season for weddings. I enjoy wearing African print material to all kinds of events from weddings, to shows, and church events  they are stylish and customized to your fit so why not. 

Do not be afraid or ashamed to step out in your cultural wear find a material/print you like, and

a seamstress you can trust with the the design you have in mind.

Here is one of the outfits I wore to a Nigerian wedding of one of our pastor friends.  

In my culture we have two weddings 

a traditional and white wedding.  This was my get up to to traditional wedding.

Inspiration for all 2 (Cecelia Cassini)

Cecelia Cassini is the main lady in our second series on inspiration for all. 

I first heard of her during her feature on the 2nd season of Project Runway All Stars.

She is the youngest! let me say it again youngest! fashion designer 

known of in the United States. She provide "Kiddi Coutour" clothing that you

see her rocking in her photos. 

 She has dressed celebrities such as Zack Ephron.

She is really passionate about encouraging young individuals  that you do not have to wait to become an adult in order to achieve your dreams. 

Cecilia began with little lessons but became more skilful  through trial and error. With a lot of broken needles later she sells clothing for as much as $450.00

what do men wear?

I come from a house of girls and even went to an all girls school in london. I have realized that it is more challenging for me to come up with male designs than females. Even when shoping for the guy I am somewhat clueless. lol

I really think this is due to my surroundings. 

So, I always wonder what do men wear?? lol.

I mean when it comes to T-Shirts,
 I love the designs we have so far and I look forward to more wonderful designs.

New Winter Collection coming soon

Hello folks, Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. So whats up with me of late, been spending sometime in the fashion world recently looking into what this winter has in stalled for us and am I am excited!!

 Why? cause im actually gonna take a go at it. Watching project runway one of the most influential fashion designers of all time was mentioned Karl Lagerfeld, so I decided (like i usually do) to take a look at his website and designs and I am inspired!! 

First of all his collection is fab and they are clothes one can easily mix and match to make stunning outfits, juuuuuussstt at a much more expensive price. But its cool we'll get there someday soon. I enjoyed his look which consisted mostly of dark leather colours and metallic golds & silver. Here are some of my faves from his kollection

I personally think a must have this winter is a pair
leather pants or tights, perfect for all your tops and T-shirts.

This winter seems to be filled with a huge mix of trends all happening at the same time you've got nail polish trends to jackets and prints.

Although this makes it a little difficult to figure out what ones style is, it is important one remembers you cannot follow all the trends. Find two or three that you like and make your mix out of it. Personally for my wardrobe it seems to be filled with more knits  and chiffon than I've worn in a long time. On the other hand business wise I seem to be loving the dark winter with more blacks, metallic gold and silver and a touch of Vibrant bright colours.
Currently coming up with some designs for a fabulous  2012/2013 winter collection.
This would be our First winter collection so pray for us and wish us all the best!
